El pueblo ha hecho escuchar su voz en las calles de manera muy clara. ¡No
estamos de acuerdo con nada de lo propuesto! ¡No a las componendas y el apoyo a
las propuestas! ¡Lacayos de la UE, el FMI y el Capital, tomen su memorándum y
váyanse! ¡Todo el poder a los trabajadores!
El 12 de febrero, 199 miembros del Parlamento, un puñado de políticos pertenecientes al PASOK y a la derecha junto con dos miembros fascistas del Parlamento, votaron una vez más “si a todo” el cuerpo de los decretos homicidas y a los aumentos impuestos por los prestamistas internacionales, el FMI y la UE y por los grandes negocios locales, todos representados por el gobierno de Papadimos.
Al mismo tiempo, oponiéndose a estos 199 lacayos, un millón de personas desbordó la Plaza Syntagma y las calles adyacentes en el centro de Atenas así como en otras plazas y calles en toda Grecia, marchando contra el memorándum que expresa un canibalismo social. Con los trabajadores y la juventud en la vanguardia, el pueblo se reunió abarcando todos los sectores sociales populares, todas las edades, unidos por una lucha común.
El gobierno de Papadimos, temblando ante el potencial de una movilización de masas de estas características, lanzó un asalto a las masas planeado, utilizando la violencia policial y el arsenal químico desde el comienzo de la reunión de las masas en Syntagma a las 5.15. Ni los golpes propinados por la brutal policía antimotines y el escuadrón de motociclistas, ni las heridas a cientos ni los arrestos de docenas de personas detuvieron a las masas rebeldes, que se reagruparon y retornaron al campo de batalla una y otra vez. Un pueblo que ha sido convertido en una nación de desposeídos no tenía nada que temer. El terrorismo de Estado no puede ya aterrorizarlo.
La desesperación social se ha vuelto incontrolable. El fuego que arde dentro de la sociedad es mucho más intenso que todos los fuegos que incendian los bancos y las tiendas. Como siempre, la retaguardia social “correcta y prolija” y los líderes del KKE (PC griego) y SYRIZA, repiten por hábito duras palabras contra “los provocadores” y “barrabravas”. Esto no quiere decir que la policía (por orden de Papoutsis y Papademos) no envíe informantes para policiales a crear una atmósfera intimidatoria en un esfuerzo de asustar a las masas, por supuesto, esto es algo que las masas deben tener en cuenta para defenderse.
Aquellos, que literalmente han convertido en cenizas las vidas de millones son los verdaderos provocadores, la UE, el FMI y los barrabravas en el Parlamento y el gobierno que se han burlado de la gente y han destruido los salarios, pensiones, trabajos, hospitales, escuelas, a la juventud y a los ancianos.
El 12 de febrero revivió el levantamiento y las revueltas de diciembre de 2008 y aterrorizó a los capitalistas locales y del exterior, levantando antes sus ojos el fantasma de la Revolución Social. El mismo sistema político burgués mal herido y en bancarrota ha sufrido esta vez un golpe aún más fuerte por la presión de una movilización de masas sin precedentes, que enfrentó a los tres líderes de los partidos- Papandreu, Samaras y Karatzaferis con renuncias y expulsiones incluso de algunos de sus más partidarios más cercanos. Están más débiles ahora de lo que jamás lo han estado.
Pero no debemos quedarnos fijados en lo que sucedió, lo que hagamos el día después es ahora crucial. No permitamos que los burócratas y aquellos que tratan con aire condescendiente a los trabajadores continuar demorando o boicoteando las movilizaciones futuras. Las elecciones no traerán la solución, la solución yace en la organización inmediata y la conducción victoriosa de una Huelga General política indefinida que durará hasta la caída del gobierno de Papademos y sus sucesores potenciales, para remover los obstáculos que impiden a los trabajadores tomar el poder y el control de sus vidas con sus propias manos.
Los trabajadores y los desempleados no se sentarán esperando a ser masacrados por el nuevo memorándum. ¡Ya les han chupado la sangre por bastante tiempo! ¡ Los capitalistas deben pagar la bancarrota de su sistema! ¡No a las reducciones en los salarios, pensiones y trabajos, la restauración del poder de compra debe ser solamente a través de aumentos generosos. Inmediata cancelación unilateral de la deuda!! Nacionalización de los bancos y de todos los servicios públicos y control directo de los trabajadores de todas las industrias y negocios que cierren o despidan trabajadores, sin compensación a los capitalistas!
Juntos debemos expulsar a la troika, la UE y el FMI de nuestro país y pedir el apoyo de todos los pueblos que ya agonizan por culpa de estas mismas políticas: los trabajadores portugueses, 300000 de los cuales marcharon el 11 de febrero; los trabajadores españoles que han llamado a una Huelga General para el 17 de febrero y que están tomando las calles; los trabajadores italianos, los trabajadores de toda Europa. ¡Para de evitar las consecuencias del Memorándum financiero que impone Bruselas y los decretos propuestos por Berlín y Schauble, debemos luchar por la desaparición y la disolución de la UE imperialista, debemos luchar por los Estados Unidos socialistas de Europa!.

Lackeys of the EU, of the IMF, of Capital, take your memorandum and get out! All power to the workers!
On the 12th of February, 199 members of parliament, a handful of bourgeois politicians belonging to PASOK, to the Right, along with two fascist members of parliament, voted once again “yes to all” of the mass homicidal decrees and hikes imposed by international lenders, by the IMF and the EU, and by international and domestic big business that are all represented by Papademo's government.
At the same time, in opposition to these 199 lackeys, one million people flooded Syntagma Square and the surrounding streets in the centre of Athens, as well as other squares and streets throughout Greece, marching against the socially cannibalistic Memorandum. With the workers and youth at the forefront, people gathered side-by-side from all popular social strata, of all ages, united by a common struggle.
The government of Papademos, trembling from the potential of such a mass mobilisation, launched a planned assault on the masses through the use of police violence and chemical warfare from the start of the mass gathering in Syntagma, at 5:15pm. Not even beatings from the brutal riot police and the DIAS motorcycle squad, nor the injuries of hundreds and arrests of dozens, deterred the rebellious masses, who regrouped and returned to the battlefield, over and over again. A people who have been converted to a nation of the deprived have noting left to fear. State terrorism can no longer terrorise them.
Social desperation is becoming uncontrollable. The fire burning within society is much larger than all the fires that burnt banks and stores. As always, the socially backward “prim and proper ”, and the leaders of KKE and SYRIZA, repeat, by habit, their harsh words against the “provocateurs” and “hooligans”. This is not to say that the police (under orders from Papoutsis and Papademos) do not send informants and police aids to create an intimidating atmosphere in an effort to scare the masses, of course this is something the masses must keep in mind in order to defend themselves. Those, however, who literally burn the lives of millions are the true provocateurs, those of the EU, the IMF and the hooligans in parliament and in government who give the finger to the people and ravage salaries, pensions, jobs, hospitals, schools, the youth and the elderly.
The 12th of February revived the uprising and riots of December 2008 and panicked the capitalists both locally and abroad, providing before their very eyes the spectre of Social Revolution. The same heavily wounded and bankrupted bourgeois political system was dealt an even heavier blow this time from the pressure of such an unprecedented mass mobilisation, causing the three party leaders, Papandreou, Samaras and Karatzaferis, to face massive party resignations and expulsions, even from some of their closest supporters. They are weaker now than they've ever been.
But we must not remain here, focusing on what has happened, what we do the following day is now crucial. Let us not allow the bureaucrats and those who patronise the workers to continue delaying or boycotting future mobilisations. Elections will not provide the solution, the solution lies in the immediate organisation and victorious conduct of an indefinite General Political Strike that will last until the fall of the Papademos' government and its potential successors, so that the path can be cleared for the workers to seize power and take control of their lives into their own hands.
The workers and the unemployed will not sit around waiting to get slaughtered by the new Memorandum. They've sucked our blood for long enough! The capitalists must pay for the bankruptcy of their own system. No cutbacks to wages, pensions and jobs, the restoration of purchasing power only through generous increases. Immediate and unilateral debt cancellation! Nationalisation of the banks and all public services, and bringing under direct workers control all industries and business that strategically close or fire workers, without any compensation handed to the capitalists!
Together we must throw the troika, the EU and the IMF out of the country, and call on the support of all people who are already agonising over these same policies: the Portuguese workers, 300 000 of whom demonstrated in Lisbon on the 11th of February, the Spanish workers who have called for a General Strike on the 17th of February and will be taking to the streets, the Italian workers, the workers across Europe. In order to be spared from the financial Memoranda demanded by Brussels and the decrees proposed by Berlin and Schäuble, we have to fight for the demise and dissolution of the imperialist EU, we have to fight for a United Socialist States of Europe!
